The purpose of the Competitive Start Fund is to accelerate the growth of start-up companies that have the capability to succeed in global markets.


Enterprise Ireland launched two calls for applications on Friday 23rd September 2016 to the Competitive Start Fund. These calls will close on Wednesday 5th October at 3pm.  Applicants are restricted to apply to one call only.

Overview of the Competitive Start Fund

This fund is open to early stage companies in manufacturing & internationally traded services, including the following subsectors: Internet, Games, Apps, Mobile, SaaS, Cloud Computing, Enterprise Software, Lifesciences, Fintech, Food, Cleantech and Industrial Products.

What is the maximum funding available?

The selected companies will receive a maximum investment of €50,000 for a 10% ordinary equity stake in the start-up company. The investment shall be released in two equal tranches. The Company will be required to secure additional equity investment of €5,000, from promoters or external investors, prior to the release of Enterprise Ireland’s first tranche.

What is the call close date?

This call for applications will close on Wednesday 5th October at 3pm.

Applications must be made through the Enterprise Ireland online application system.
